“Gunnar Flynn is absolutely the best!! I had a flood emergency on a Sunday afternoon in my kitchen and he showed up as soon as he finished the prior emergency he was working. The main sewer drain to my building was completely blocked and EVERYTHING was backing up into my kitchen, very messy to say the least. Gunnar quickly assessed situation, went to work clearing the sewer line, and got everything working again, THANK YOU!”

Why Routine Plumbing Checks Matter
Even if your plumbing seems fine on the surface, small issues could be forming out of sight.
Annual inspections help:
- Catch leaks before they become water damage
- Prevent stuck valves or cracked pipes
- Keep water heaters and appliances efficient
- Extend the life of your plumbing system
- Maintain water pressure and flow
- Avoid emergency calls (and stress)
It’s not about being reactive—it’s about catching problems before they happen. That’s why proactive homeowners turn to the professionals at Meeks Plumbing Inc.
Our Recommended Annual Plumbing Checklist
Here’s what every Florida homeowner should be checking at least once a year:
- Shut-Off Valves: Make sure all water shut-off valves (under sinks, toilets, and main lines) open and close smoothly. Stuck valves can cause major headaches during emergencies.
- Hose Bibs & Outdoor Faucets: Inspect hose bibs for cracks or leaks—especially if temperatures have dropped. Even in Florida, cold snaps can lead to freeze damage.
- Water Heater Inspection: Check for rust, sediment, or water pooling around your tank. Flush it yearly to improve efficiency and prevent clogs.
- Faucets & Drains: Look under sinks for slow drips, water stains, or loose connections. Check faucet aerators for buildup and drains for slow flow.
- Toilets: Add a few drops of food coloring to the tank—if it seeps into the bowl, you’ve got a leak. Also, inspect for movement at the base or rusting parts.
- Washing Machine Hoses: These rubber hoses don’t last forever. Look for bulges, cracks, or signs of wear—especially if they’re more than 5 years old.
- Water Pressure: Too low or too high? Pressure issues can indicate bigger system concerns. We can test and adjust to extend your plumbing’s lifespan.
“Joe Scaffidi came out from Meeks Plumbing after I called yesterday. This young man was professional, personable and efficient. He explained clearly what the problem was, how he was going to address it and advised me how to prevent a recurrence in the future. Meeks is fortunate to have him! He is welcome in my home anytime!”
